To standardize the Internet Religious Information Service, the Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs of Shanxi Province made an announcement about carrying out exams for online religious content reviewers, based on the relevant requirements of the Administrative Measures for Internet Religious Information Services.
The provincial bureau of ethnic and religious affairs released a notice on July 13, notifying the content of the test, test requirements, and the relevant time schedule.
It said legal or unincorporated organizations engaged in online religious activities in Shanxi Province should be equipped with information reviewers who are familiar with national religious policies and regulations and relevant religious knowledge and must have passed the test. The test is organized by the provincial bureau of ethnic and religious affairs, with no test fee, specified teaching materials, or guidebook. In the closed book exam with a full score of 100 points, people are considered qualified upon getting a score of 80 or more.
The bureau stated the test is not a qualification test and that the pass results are valid for three years from the testing date. Auditors should retake the test after the expiration of the test. The test results will be automatically invalidated if the candidates are not engaged in the review of religious information on the Internet within one year from the date of testing.
According to the epidemic prevention and control situation in Shanxi Province, the registration time for the initial test is scheduled to be in late July, with the registration method, test time, and test location to be notified in due course.
Besides China’s National Security Law, Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China, and basic knowledge about Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism, and Christianity, learning materials include Regulations on Religious Affairs, Administrative Measures for Internet Religious Information Services, Measures for the Approval and Registration of Religious Activity Sites, Financial Management Measures for Religious Activity Sites, Administrative Measures for Religious Clergy and Administrative Measures for Religious Institutions.
