China's top political advisor Wang Huning mentioned the religious work over the past year at the second session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held on March 4, according to Xinhua News Agency.
He stated that over the past year, the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee played the role of the united front that promoted harmony in relations among political parties, ethnic groups, religious sectors, social strata, and compatriots at home and abroad.
Wang said, "The Standing Committee conducted public diplomacy, civilian diplomacy, and think tank diplomacy, helping to create a favorable external environment." It is reported that the CPPCC National Committee and its affiliated institutions organized 23 batches of visits and engaged with over 200 institutions from 50 countries. It also has established connections with 41 foreign think tanks and 12 civil organizations, hosting events involving international organization representatives, foreign ambassadors to China, and visiting senior scholars on the Oriental Scholarship program. They conducted exchanges with over 2,100 foreigners from all walks of life, receiving visitors and international conference participants from 84 countries and 25 international.
Additionally, the Standing Committee supported the China Committee for Religious and Peace to hold the second international seminar on interfaith exchanges and a shared future for humanity.
On March 5, Premier Li Qiang delivered the government work report at the opening of the second session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing.
He highlighted, "We will adhere to the Party's basic policy on religious affairs, ensure that religions in China must be Chinese in orientation, and provide guidance to religions so that they can adapt themselves to our socialist society."
