The 17th Annual Conference of the Chinese Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (CSSSR) will be hosted on December 18-19, calling for contributions for the forum from now on.
With the theme of Religious Transformation in the (Post) Pandemic Period, the 17th CSSSR conference will be co-sponsored by the Institute for the Study of Buddhism and Religious Theories at Renmin University of China (RUC), International Center for Buddhist Studies at RUC, the School of Philosophy at RUC, and the Advanced Institute for the Studies of Religion at RUC.
To explain the purpose of this conference, the organizer said that in the past two years, the global coronavirus pandemic had affected the pace of human life, bringing about changes even in the religious aspects of life. In terms of the structure of religious believers, the form of religious activities, the focus of religious ideas, the management mode of religious affairs, as well as the religious economy, religious communication, and religious charity, different religions presented their own innovations and developments, showing that the worldwide religions were at a historical turning point.
The theses generally include two forms. In addition to academic research papers on religious changes during the (post) pandemic period, the author can share their experience, thoughts and outlook on religious transformation with the example of the religious site or unit they participate in.
In accordance with the recent regulations of pandemic prevention and control, participants are encouraged to attend the forum in person; at the same time, they can also attend online. Contributors are requested to send the return receipt together with the abstract of the paper via the QR code before November 20.
