Jointly with all sectors of society, Amity Foundation donated a large quantity of personal protection equipment to Yangzhou City of Jiangsu in the midst of a severe coronavirus outbreak.
From the outbreak of COVID-19 in Lukou Airport on July 20 till September 1, 820 confirmed local cases had been reported in Jiangsu in cumulative terms (including 235 cases in Nanjing, 12 in Huai’an, 570 in Yangzhou, and three in Suqian). There was no new confirmed local case on September 1.
At nightfall on September 1, these materials arrived in this China’s coastal north-eastern city, including 3,000 sets of medical protective clothing, 20,000 units of disposable gloves, and 2,000 medical masks.
These were sent to the Jiangdu District Health Committee of Yangzhou City and Northern Jiangsu People’s Hospital to protect the front-line medical workers in Yangzhou.
At 3 pm that day, the donation ceremony was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu.
In late July, due to the second wave in the pandemic in Nanjing and Yangzhou, the Chinese Young Volunteers Association, Nanjing Volunteer Service Federation, Nanjing International Cultural Exchange Association, and Amity Foundation jointly launched the Nanjing Anti-Pandemic Linkage Service Platform. Utilizing multiple resources from the government, enterprises, social organizations, media, and universities, they set up five major sections: one-touch help button, medical consultation, mental health, pandemic maps, and donation, responding to all kinds of messages for help from the public during the pandemic.
Among them, through the online interactive feature of the "one-touch help button", the team helped community workers, the elderly, the weak, the sick, the disabled, and pregnant women in emergency travel, as well as delivering the classified special materials to designated places. At the same time, the platform provided a channel to donate money and goods.
Recently, the foundation launched the "Warm Neighbors" campaign with other organizations to accompany and help the Yangzhou people to fight against the pandemic.
In the future, the platform would continue to integrate social resources and explore the linkage mode of participation of all walks of life in social governance, responding to emergency needs.
