The inaugural issue of the academic journal Maritime Silk Road Series, jointly hosted by the Macau Research Institute of Jinan University and the International (Macau) Academic Research Institute, was recently published.

According to Chinese Christian Studies, this journal focuses on specialized fields of Sino-foreign relations history, Ming-Qing history (Hong Kong and Macau history), overseas Sinology, historical documents, the history of Christian missions in China, and international relations issues. It serves as another academic platform created by the Macau Research Institute of Jinan University and other institutions.

This biannual journal's inaugural issue features two sections. The first section, "Special Research," includes four research articles: Jin Guoping's "Opportunities of the Maritime Silk Road: Portuguese and Fujianese in Malacca and the 'Zhangzhou' Sea in the Early 16th Century," (Germany) Putak's "On the Renaissance of the Maritime Silk Road and the Contradictions of American Ideology and Expansion Policy," Tu Zhiwei's "Research on Mid-Ming Dynasty Overseas and Fujian-Southern Min Correspondence," and Ye Nong's "Treasures of the Andes: The Arrival of Peanuts." The second section, "Preliminary Sounds," features one article: Song Yuyu's "Expanding Horizons Based on Historical Materials: A Case Study of 'Maritime Silk Road Series'."
