The second Sunday in May in the Gregorian Calendar is Mother's Day. To commemorate this special festival, the Shanghai YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) held some special Mother's Day-themed activities. They used the medium of flower art to help the elderly feel the pride of being mothers.
The Shanghai YMCA and the Shanghai Huaai Community Service Center invited the Fusan and Jianliu Day Nurseries along with professional art teachers to help the elderly to experience the joy of illustrating artwork with flowers. The experience helped the elderly to feel the pride of being a mother.
The Dapuqiao Community Cultural Activity Center of Shanghai YMCA set up a special online handiwork class. While the activity followed the rules of social distancing, it also promoted the traditional virtue of honoring parents in the Chinese nation. Through following the online class they were able to make "Love Earrings" and a "Thanksgiving Vase".
Another activity was initiated online by the Xinjiayuan Community Cultural Center of the Shanghai YMCA mainly for children. It was an exchange of paintings with the theme of "I want to talk to my mother". This activity not only helped the children to express their gratitude to their mothers but also helped the children to add personal and creative touches as they expressed love for their parents.

上海基督教青年会举办别样母亲节主题活动
公历年5月份的第二个星期日，被称为是母亲节。在这一特别的节日里，上海基督教青年会举办了别样母亲节主题活动。共开设了三个小主题：
一，“缤纷花艺•爱满初夏”
由上海基督教青年会，上海华爱社区服务管理中心托管的复三和建六日托所，邀请了专业的花艺老师带领长者们体验插画艺术带来的欢乐，感受为人母的自豪之情。
二，“浓情五月天，感恩母亲节”
上海基督教青年会打浦桥社区文化活动中心为此节日特开设了云端手工DIY课堂，这一举措在落实疫情防控工作的同时，也弘扬了中华民族孝敬父母的传统美德。课堂的内容是“爱心耳钉”和“感恩花瓶”。
三，“我想和妈妈说”
最后这一活动主要针对小朋友成立，以《我想和妈妈说》为主题的绘画交流，由上海基督教青年会馨佳园社区文化活动中心在线上发起。此次活动不但帮助了小朋友们向母亲表达感恩之心，还帮助了小朋友们在对父母之爱的表达上增添了个人的创作色彩。
