China is keen on encouraging the religious community to engage in social charities in recent years.

President Xi Jinping made four statements related to religions in his report at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on Oct. 18, 2017.

After the national Congress, the official WeChat account of the State Administration of Religious Affairs (SARA) published nine articles on poverty alleviation from Oct. 28 to Nov. 8. The content covered the administration's incentives to encourage religious poverty relief efforts and experiences of poverty reduction cases carried out by the department under the State Council.

It also included the poverty alleviation work done by the administration and religious circles for Sandu County, Guizhou, as well as aiding poor students.
