A seminar concerning the “Sinicization of Religious Practices” was held by the Central Institute of Socialism (CIS) on April 6, said the Central Institute of Socialism.
The seminar was hosted by the United Front High-End Think Tank of CIS. Yuan Sha, party member and vice-chancellor of CIS, noted in her speech that the Research Department of CIS launched a series of thematic studies on the "Sinicization of Religious Practices" with the aim to further promote the perspective of the sinicization of religions in China so that the importance of the sinicization of religious practices can be correctly understood.
Professor Sheng Kai of Tsinghua University, the general convener, introduced the master plan and research framework of the project. From the perspective of the sinicization of Buddhist, Taoist, Islamic, and Christian practices, respectively, four leading experts, Neng Ren, director of the editorial department of the journal Research of Buddhism; Li Shaohua, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Taoist Association and president of the Jiangxi Provincial Taoist Association; Li Lin, a fellow researcher at the Institute of World Religions at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and You Bin, professor at the Minzu University of China, reported the detailed research plan and focus concerning the topic.
