Chinese Christian Council (CCC) held an online conference with the Luis Palau Association in the United States on June 17.
Sharing their friendship, they exchanged views on the efforts of the two countries’ churches to fight against COVID-19, and the ministries they carried out under the normalization of pandemic prevention and control.
Rev. Shen Xuebin, deputy president of the CCC, introduced China's international cooperation on the COVID-19 pandemic and the status quo of the resumption of Chinese churches’ ministries. He also showed pictures of the mutual visits of the two sides more than 20 years ago, reviewing the long-standing friendly exchanges between them.
Rev. Andrew Palau, son of the late international Christian evangelist Luis Palau, thanked Chinese churches and the China Religious Cultural Communication Association for their immediate messages of condolence following the death of his father in March 2021. He claimed that he had prayed for believers in China all the time, although they could not see each other due to the pandemic. He also expressed that he would carry on his father's will with his family, which was passing on the friendship between the Louis Palau Association and the Chinese people from generation to generation, adding that the two sides would visit each other as soon as possible after the pandemic is over.
Luis Palau was one of the well-known evangelists in the United States. Greatly influenced by another American evangelist, Billy Graham, who gave him help and support in his early years, Palau held many large-scale evangelistic meetings in the United States and around the world. To make his evangelism more systematic, he established the Luis Palau Association, which his son was also involved in. At present, in addition to evangelism, the organization is also engaged in social services, charity, and relief work. Palau had visited China many times and was invited to give sermons in some churches before his death.
