Recently, a new book titled Review and Prospects: Thirty Years Research on the History of Chinese Missionary Universities was published by Religious Culture Publishing House.
The book was edited by Zhang Kaiyuan, Ma Min, and Pei Yili. At the end of the 1980s, Professor Zhang introduced the study of the history of Chinese Christian colleges to China from abroad. In 1989, the first International Symposium on the Thirty Years’ Research on the History of Christian Colleges in China was hosted in the Central China Normal University, known as Huazhong Normal University, which is a milestone in the field. In order to deepen the research, in 1994, Zhang was responsible for the establishment of the Center for Historical research on China Christian Colleges (renamed the Sino-Western Cultural Exchange Research Center in 2001). Since then, a large number of Chinese and foreign scholars have devoted themselves to this field. Over the years, the center has carried out academic research, cultural exchange, and personnel training, mainly characterized by research on the history of Christian universities and Christianity in China.
Ma Min reviewed the research process and trends in the history of Chinese Christian universities in the past 30 years. He believed that researchers should summarize the positive and negative aspects of teaching experience and lessons of church universities, and apply the essence of education to the construction of the contemporary university system to promote the modernization of China's higher education.
The book includes 29 chapters, such as “Integration of Chinese and Western Culture—The Enlightenment of the educational experience of Church Universities in China on Contemporary Education”, “Analysis of the Implementation Effect of Religious Education in Church Universities from the Perspective of Big Data— the University of Nanking as the Object of Investigation”, and "The Historical Status and Contemporary Influence of St. John's University in Shanghai".

近日，章开沅、马敏、裴宜理主编的《回顾与展望——中国教会大学史研究三十年》由宗教文化出版社出版。
20世纪80年代末，章开沅从国外把中国教会大学史研究引入到中国。1989年，在章开沅和其他学界同仁共同倡议与努力下，首届中国教会大学史研究国际学术研讨会在华中师范大学召开，是近代中国教会大学史研究的里程碑。为了持续深化研究，1994年，章开沅在学校主持成立了中国教会大学史研究中心（2001年更名为东西方文化交流研究中心），此后大批中外学者投入该领域。多年来，中心以中国教会大学史、中国基督教史研究为主要特色，开展学术研究、文化交流，人才培养。
马敏回顾了30年来中国教会大学史的研究历程和态势， 他认为总结教会大学正反两方面的办学经验与教训，更为全面地评价教会大学的历史地位和作用，将其办学精华运用于当代大学制度建设，推进中国高等教育现代化进程。
本书共29章，包括“中西交融 取精用宏——中国教会大学办学经验对当代教育的启示”，“大数据视角下教会大学宗教教育实施成效分析——以金陵大学为考察对象”，“上海圣约翰大学的历史地位与当代影响”等。
