A Guangdong church paid a visit to COVID-19 prevention workers in a local community.
Recently, pastors of Shenzhen Church came to Meidu Community in Meilin Street to visit personnel working at a checkpoint, who worked from morning to midnight, bringing fruit, mineral water, biscuits, and other supplies. The church supported the pandemic prevention efforts, which included carrying out nucleic acid sampling, according to the church.
The church also announced the recent suspension of face-to-face gatherings from February 2, due to a spike of coronavirus cases.
Founded in Luohu District in 1898 by the Rhenish Missionary Society, the church was rebuilt in 1949. After the Cultural Revolution launched in 1966, it reopened in 1984, becoming the first church to resume worship in Shenzhen. At that time, more than 70 believers attended a Sunday service every week in the church which covered an area of 120 square meters (0.03 acres).
With more than 3500 worshippers in 1997, the church was given a plot of land covering 4,400 square meters (1.09 acres, including green belt allocated by the government, with the new church put into use in 2001.
The church participates in social services every year, including professional medical services, psychological counseling, children's education, blood donation, disaster relief, and student assistance programs.

基督教深圳堂于1898年创建于罗湖区,其宗派背景为礼贤会。1949年,重建新堂,1984年5月27日重新恢复聚会,成为深圳第一间恢复崇拜的教堂。当时,教堂面积只有120平方米左右,每周中午举行一堂主日礼拜,会众70多人。
1997年4月,会众已增至3500人之多。1998年,政府规划了4400平方米(包括绿化带)作新堂建设用地。 2001年12月9日新堂投入使用。深圳堂积极参与社会服务,每年都有专业的医疗服务、心理辅导、儿童教育、献血、赈灾、助学等项目。
