CCC&TSPM, the Luis Palau Association in the United States, and the China Religious Culture Communication Association (CRCCA) held a video seminar with the theme of “The Church Under the Pandemic”.
On November 3, Pastor Levi Park, director of festivals at the Luis Palau Association, said in his welcoming speech that the global church as a whole body should face difficulties together and learn from each other through communication, according to China Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CCC&TSPM).
Rev. Wu Wei, president of China Christian Council (CCC), said that the majority of registered churches in China had resumed in-person services. Currently, Christianity in China was promoting the Sinicization of Christianity, ruling the church based on the law, and strengthening talent training.
The church leader added that the church in China had donated 160 million yuan into the country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. During the height of the pandemic restrictions, the church sought the strength of faith through prayers and led the congregation to resist cults and heresies.
The pandemic facilitated Chinese Christians in learning how to seek the help of God in their daily lives and put their faith into practice.
Kevin Palau, president of the Luis Palau Association and son of the late influential evangelist Luis Palau, shared the ministry’s contribution to cities, families, and schools in his speech titled “The Church - Cares for the People Affected by the Pandemic”. He shared how some megachurches assisted small churches to go through the most difficult period during the pandemic and how they brought the love of Christ to other social groups.
Recalling his father’s death, evangelist Andrew Palau said that the letters of condolence from the Chinese church and CRCCA were encouraging to him. He stated that there was still hope under the far-reaching impact of the pandemic. With hope, we could preach the gospel in different ways and expand ministries.
Maria Cristina Fuentes, director of Arizona Governor Doug Ducey’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family, Rev. Chen Yilu, vice-president of CCC and executive vice-president of the Nanjing Union Theological Seminary, and Pastor Zheng Junjie of Fujian Theological Seminary delivered speeches respectively titled “The Influence of the Pandemic on Arizona”, “The Impact of the Pandemic on the Church Through the Perspective of Theological Education”, and “Worship and Pastoral Ministry of Local Churches Under the Pandemic”, respectively.
In mid-June, the two sides held an online conference, sharing the friendship and exchanges on ministries.
