Amity Foundation Talks with South African NGOs on COVID-19 Prevention, Control

On May 10, the COVID-19 outbreak prevention communication meeting of China and South Africa was held online by Amity Foundation and other institutes.

Nearly 100 people from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and other countries attended the meeting, which shared the experience of prevention and control of the new coronary pneumonia pandemic, especially the health management of mothers and infants, according to Amity. 

This was one of the serial activity organized by Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network, including Beijing Pinglan Public Welfare Foundation, the South African National Citizens' Organization, Training Center of Beijing Union Medical College and Zhong Nanwu.

One of South Africa’s most influential NGO leaders, Mr. Mdaken, chairman of the National Civil Organization (SANCO), a member of the “3 + 1” ruling coalition in South Africa, said in his speech that the New Coronary Pneumonia pandemic was an unprecedented challenge for all humanity. During the fight against the pandemic, China and Africa need more unity and mutual support than ever before. With the spread of the pandemic in Africa, China has provided many batches of anti-pandemic material assistance and much valuable experience, which has played an important role in combating the pandemic in South Africa.

Amity Printing Company customers and Ethiopian international students asked questions at the meeting, and the participating professional doctors also gave detailed and specific answers.

Dirk Timothy Gevers,  the chief executive officer of the Bible Society of South Africa, said, "Thank you very much, Amity Foundation and Amity Printing for inviting them to participate in this online communication meeting. The speeches of the two doctors are very clear and gave a better explanation of pandemic prevention and provided very effective information. "

This form of communication is also very practical, flexible, and effective, and I would like to express my deep gratitude to China for organizing a knowledge communication meeting on a special day such as Mother ‘s Day to prevent the New Coronary Pneumonia pandemic from infecting women and children.
