Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. -Galatians 6:7
This is a universal principle.
You cannot expect to grow tomatoes when you sow pepper. You cannot expect a salary when you don't work. You cannot expect to reap kindness if you don't give it.
God looks at the heart. Even if you give but if you give reluctantly, how can God bless you back?
God cannot be mocked. You can't argue with Him, "But I sowed!" He looks at the heart. It is written that God loves a cheerful giver and that when you give, you must do so freely and not under compulsion. It's one thing to sow with a smiling face but reluctantly. It's another thing to sow with genuine generosity.
I'm not just talking about material things here. It applies to every facet of life.
If you love people, people will love you back. If you hurt them, they will hurt you back.
If you work hard, you'll be commended. If you slack around, need I say more?
Whoever sows injustice reaps calamity, and the rod they wield in fury will be broken. -Proverbs 22:8
This is saying that if you do bad, bad things will befall you in return. But let's turn this passage around. Whoever sows justice reaps blessings, and the rod they wield will be established.
You will always get back what you sow.
One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. -Proverbs 11:24
The same is true concerning spiritual things.
One who prays a lot reaps the miracles of God in their lives and in the lives of the people around them. One who takes care of God's people, building them up, will themselves be built up. One who forgives will also be forgiven. One who cares will also be cared for.
All these things are parallel. Whether in the natural or in the spiritual extent. We will always reap what we sow.
So, what kind of seeds are you sowing today?
