Rev. Shen Xuebin, vice president of the China Christian Council (CCC), received a delegation from the New York Theological Education Center (NYTEC), discussing theological education, the development of the church in the post-denominational era, and the sinicization of Christianity.
On October 30, after delivering a welcoming speech, Rev. Shen reviewed the years of friendly exchanges and interactions between the two parties, expressing his hope for future mutual visits and stronger cooperation, said CCC&TSPM. He also introduced the main ministries of CCC&TSPM and some of the issues and challenges facing the Church of China, explaining the essence of promoting Christianity in the Chinese context.
Rev. Dr. Timothy Chiu, president of NYTEC and president of NYTEC-COST (Chinese Online School of Theology), briefly introduced the work of their institution. He mentioned that the purpose of this visit was to make up for the regret of not being able to visit China due to COVID-19, as well as to deepen the understanding of China and the Chinese churches among overseas Chinese church leaders and staff workers. They aimed to enhance and develop friendship and seek ways for friendly exchanges and cooperation.
The NYTEC and Dr. Timothy Chiu respect and understand the three-self course of self-preaching, self-governing, and self-supporting in the Church of China. They have previously visited China multiple times to share and exchange information with churches and theological institutions. They have also hosted visiting delegations from Chinese churches in the United States and supported exhibitions of China's Bible ministry in the United States.
