A delegation of 19 people from the New York Theological Education Center (NYTEC) embarked on a visit to the East China Theological Seminary (ECTS).
On October 30, Rev. Xie Bingguo, president of ECTS, briefed the guests on the development of the school, education, teaching staff, and students, said the seminary. He also presented explorations made on the path of sinicization of Christianity in recent years, achievements in theological education and research, as well as the aspiration for the future.
In response, Rev. Dr. Timothy Chiu, president of NYTEC, provided an introduction to the center and its affiliated ministry, Chinese Online Theological Seminary (NYTEC-COST), mainly about the current direction of talent cultivation, curriculums, and branches. Rev. Chiu highlighted the modes and characteristics of online teaching, the development features of the multidisciplinary approach, and shared experience with online education.
Mr. Hu Guoxiang, president of the center’s executive board, proposed possibilities for future cooperation between the two sides to promote resource sharing and leverage each other's strengths.
Other visitors of the delegation shared with the faculty of ECTS about their experiences in professional teaching, research, and church pastoring, discussing how to improve the level of theological education and its diversity.
