The Holy Trinity Cathedral in Shanghai has been made accessible to the public since December of the preceding year. Since July of the current year, the church has been conducting two worship services every Sunday. It is worth noting that an advance online appointment is still required to attend these services.
On the second Sunday service of July 16, Rev. Yan Xiyu from Nanjing Union Theological Seminary delivered a sermon titled "Who is the Neighbor?" based on the scripture found in 10:25–37. In this passage, a lawyer sought counsel from Jesus, asking, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus responded by teaching the significance of loving God and others. In reply to the question "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus recounted the parable of the "good Samaritan." In this parable, a man was robbed, beaten, and left half dead. Out of three passersby, only a Samaritan stopped to provide assistance. Rev. Yan meticulously analyzed the story and emphasized that Christians express their love for God through genuine affection for their neighbors, manifesting in tangible acts of kindness.
Established in 1847 and reconstructed in 1869, the megachurch is regarded as one of the oldest Protestant churches in Shanghai and the entire nation. After thorough preparation and registration, it was officially opened to the public in December 2022, directly under the management of CCC&TSPM.
