Rev. Shen Xuebin, residential vice president of the China Christian Council, had a virtual meeting on July 5th with David Urquhart, the Bishop of Birmingham and the Archbishop of Canterbury's envoy to China, as announced by the CCC&TSPM.
Conveying greetings from the Archbishop of Canterbury, David expressed his desire to communicate face-to-face with Rev. Shen as soon as possible. He hoped to learn more about the development of the Church of China and enhance mutual friendship and cooperation. He also shared recent updates on church ministry in the Church of England, particularly highlighting the focus on local church development and engagement in public social life.
Rev. Shen provided an overview of the current key ministries undertaken by the Church in China and discussed the challenges encountered by the church in the post-pandemic era. The two sides also discussed online and in-person worship in the digital age, sermon formats, and Bible ministries.
