A church cross in Wenzhou, China's Jerusalem, was removed on Monday.

The cross of Shuixin Church in Longwan District, Zhejiang Province, was forcibly demolished at midnight as about 100 security workers rushed into the church to control the staff.

Initially built in 1928, the church was alleged of a legal, religious place with land and property certificates. On June 30, 2014, the previous cross was forced to be removed, but a new one was built in December 2018.

A local source said led by an official leader, the security forces snatched the phones from pastoral workers' hands in the church office, shutting off the electricity and threatening them with intimidation.

On January 16, Canghe Church and Yongzhong Church in Longwan District suffered the same fate.
