A church in Central China's Jiangxi Province donated money for COVID-19 containment, with believers participating in volunteer services, due to a positive case detected during a nucleic acid test.
On May 7, Yichun Municipal Command Center for COVID-19 Control and Prevention issued a notice that starting from May 8, the temporary static management would be implemented in the central urban areas of Yichun (including Yuanzhou District and other "Three Districts" referring to Yichun Economic Development Zone, Yiyang New District, and Mingyue Mountain Scenic Spot) under China's dynamic zero-COVID policy, Yinchun CC&TSPM said.
Rev. Yi Zaizhong, chairman and president of Yichun CC&TSPM, mobilized the members of Jesus Church to donate money and participate in the epidemic control work in their own communities, so as to realize the dynamic clearing target as soon as possible.
On May 15, the pastor visited all community workers, medical staff, and volunteers in Zhegu Community where Jesus Church is located, with anti-epidemic materials and food purchased with more than 10,000 yuan donated by the congregation. Zhou Xiangyou, secretary of the Party Committee of Zhegu Community, expressed his gratitude to them.
It is estimated that more than 30 Christians of the church joined the volunteer team in their communities.
Through joint efforts, multiple rounds of nucleic acid testing have been completed in the central urban area where a zero-COVID status at the community level has been reached.
Jiangxi Provincial Health Commission said Tuesday that no local confirmed cases and asympotamic infections were reported on May 16, and there were five local hospitalized cases in the province.
