On June 9, an activity to make traditional lacquer fans was held at Shishan Church in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.
Suzhou CC&TSPM introduced that combining various arts such as painting, carving, calligraphy, and inlay, the lacquer fan is a craft that has become one of the representatives of traditional Chinese handicrafts with its unique craftsmanship and it gives people the comfortable feeling of a breeze on the face. During the production process, practicality and artistry are blended due to its intangible dyeing and bleaching technology. This tradition has been passed down for thousands of years.
With the help of teachers, the believers first diluted the lacquer and dripped it into the water. After being blown or stirred, the lacquer formed a natural and random texture on the water. Then, holding a blank fan in their hands, they immersed the covering of the fan into the water at an even pace to be attached with unique textures by entering the water in different ways and at different angles. Finally, they removed the fans from the water. After the excess water was gently absorbed with a paper towel, the lacquer fans were finished.
“The activity of making lacquer fans is to spread and promote the excellent Chinese traditional culture and to deepen brothers and sisters’ knowledge and understanding of intangible cultural heritage,” said the church.

6月9日，一项传承千年的非遗技艺——漆扇制作，在狮山基督教堂展开。
据苏州基督教两会，漆扇，这一集绘画、雕刻、书法、镶嵌等多种艺术于一体的工艺品，以其独特的工艺美感和清风拂面的舒适感受，成为中国传统手工艺品的代表之一。其制作过程中，采用的非遗漆染工艺和“漂漆”技法，更是将扇子的实用性与艺术性完美融合。
活动现场，在老师的帮助下，信徒们首先将天然漆进行稀释，滴入清水中，通过吹动或搅拌，让漆在水面上形成自然、随机的纹理。随后，他们手握空白的扇子，将扇面匀速浸入水中，通过不同的入水方式和角度，使扇面附着上独特的漆纹。最后，将扇子从水中取出，用纸巾轻轻吸去多余的水分，漆扇便制作完成。
此教堂说：“非遗漆扇制作活动的举行，旨在传播和弘扬中华优秀传统文化，加深弟兄姊妹对非遗文化的认识和了解。
