In order to help believers put down their cell phones and immerse themselves in the word of God, a church in Liaoning province is hosting a series of devotional gatherings.

It has seven themes: "Reading the Bible Together," "Praising Together," "Memorizing Scriptures Together," "Bearing Witness Together," "Praying Together," "Worshiping Together," and "Learning Truth Together."

At irregular intervals, these seven sessions are all hosted by Rev. Hou Yujie, chairperson of Yingkou TSPM.

On March 19, Yingkou City Church held its first devotional meeting with the theme "Reading the Bible Together." Reverend Hou briefly explained the significance of the event, leading believers to read the Bible. Attendees opened different sizes of paper bibles, reading scriptures related to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Regarding the next six sessions, Hou said believers can also sign up to share a five-minute personal testimony, memorize verses, and pray for the devotional meetings which make Christians untethered from their phone.
