On January 18, the Laba Festival (a traditional Chinese holiday that marks the eighth day of La, the twelfth month of the Chinese calendar), a group of volunteers paid a visit to two elderly long-term residences in a local leprosy sanatorium with food and care.
Together with its charity partner’s volunteers, Reed's Home in Zhenjiang City presented a song to the seniors, “Love Brings Us Together.” Moved by the song, the visitee, Grandpa Peng, also performed two songs for the team in response as an “interaction of love,” which deepened their mutual friendship.
After the visit, a volunteer surnamed Sun from the Changzhou Institute of Technology said: "This visit taught me that being kind to others does not take much work, and it can offer warmth and strength to people. The old man's optimism and tenacity inspired me deeply, reminding me that no matter what difficulties or challenges we face, maintaining a positive attitude helps us be better versions of ourselves.”
Another volunteer from Jilin Normal University expressed: “Despite Grandpa Peng's illness, his love and gratitude for life showed me that true happiness does not lie in material abundance but in inner peace and satisfaction. We should cherish the present and care for those around us."
The volunteers inquired about the status of the room's heating system and furniture and offered to bring some quilts on their next visit.
