The Hangzhou Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), in collaboration with local street communities, has initiated a series of environmental protection activities to promote awareness and advocate for action on climate change.
Hangzhou YWCA has been actively promoting environmental conversation from "Earth Hour" on March 25 to "Earth Day" on April 22, reported the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.
They have partnered with the Hubin Street community to launch an environmental awareness campaign titled "Governance of Five Waters with Participation from Every Person" by the West Lake, sharing energy conservation and environmental protection tips for everyday life. Subsequently, the association conducted two theme lectures on "Governance of Five Waters" and "World Earth Day," respectively, providing background knowledge on World Earth Day while also offering practical advice on environmental protection, energy conservation, emission reduction, and waste sorting in daily life.
Hangzhou YWCA has also partnered with the Xiaoying Street community workers and university student volunteers in Zhejiang to carry out urban cleaning activities. They organized over 20 elderly residents from the Hubin Street Community and university student volunteers to participate in a creative handicraft activity called "Turning Waste into Treasure," encouraging the reuse of discarded plastic water bottles and glass bottles to beautify their lives.
Finally, Hangzhou YWCA and the Hubin Street Public Administration and Management Office have established a cooperative agreement to form a "River Protection Volunteer Team" to engage in long-term water ecological protection and restoration initiatives.
