The 70th-anniversary celebrations of Nanjing Union Theological Seminary were held online and in person.
Following the hymns “Gloria Patri” and “Word Made Flesh” by the choir of the only national seminary, Rev. Shan Weixiang, Vice-President and General Director of China Christian Council, on November 29 preached a sermon entitled "The Beauty of Balance", citing Ecclesiastes 7:18, according to the seminary’s website.
Rev. Shan stated that everything needed balance, noting that the Triune God was full of the beauty of balance and that Christians should likewise balance their beliefs and theology. As the Bible says: “The Word (Christ) became flesh”, and the flesh is connected and related to the Word which guides believers’ lives. He said keeping balance consisted of grasping the sense of proportions and acting accordingly. Attendees were admonished to pursue balance in a dynamic sense, increase their faith and discover the beauty of balance.
President Rev. Gao Feng addressed the participants that under the leadership of CCC&TSPM, the seminary would embrace a bright future with the effort of the faculty.
Christian organizations and leaders at home and abroad including the Foundation for Theological Education in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary sent congratulatory messages with gifts to the school. An emeritus professor and an alumni representative also gave remarks.
With more than 3,000 past graduates, the seminary currently holds five graduate courses for pastoral studies, multiple Bible training, and correspondence courses. It trains a very significant amount of the talent of the Chinese church. As the highest institution of Christian learning in China, the seminary is also the earliest and largest national religious institution and an important base for nurturing Christian talent.

中国基督教协会副会长兼总干事单渭祥牧师证道，引用《传道书》7章18节的经文，以“平衡之美”为题证道。他提到：平衡是中国人的为人智慧，万事万物都需要寻求平衡。三位一体上帝的本性中充满着平衡之美，我们也要平衡信仰认识与神学思想。道成肉身的道与肉身是可以相连和打通的，道可以在我们具体的生活当中起到指导意义。平衡实际上就是把握分寸，行事恰到好处。我们需要不断追求动态中的平衡，不断的提升信仰认知，发现平衡之美。

金陵协和神学院培养了3000多名毕业生，举办了五期教牧研究生班、多期圣经培训班和函授班，为中国教会培养了大量人才。作为中国基督教最高学府，金陵协和神学院是成立最早、办学规模最大的全国性宗教院校，是基督教人才培养和推进基督教中国化研究的重要基地。
