On October 4, just the Double Ninth Festival, churches in Jiangsu and Shanxi held a themed activity to honor the elderly.

During this year’s National Day, Apostle Church, Gongxiang Church, St. John's Church, Shishan Church, Xiangcheng Church Hushuguan Church, and Qingjian Lake Gathering Point in Suzhou held thematic activities to honor the elderly wishing them a long life. During the activities, some staff workers along with the elderly sang hymns together, and some churchgoers sang solos, or performed instrumental music such as erhu(a two-stringed bowed musical instrument) and harmonica, or presented flowers to the elderly, according to Suzhou Municipal CC&TSPM.

Recently, Yuan Qiugen, a preacher of Lingguang Church in Gaoping City, Jincheng, Shanxi, and the staff members of the church and leaders from various Meeting Points visited the elderly people in the Nursing Home of Sizhuang Town, and offered rice, flour, cooking oil and 1,000 yuan as the subsidy for respecting the elderly. The church staff also sang "Love Brings Us Together" together, according to Shanxi Provincial TSPM.
