Recently, Nanjing Union Theological Seminary (NJUTS) hosted delegations from the Foundation for Theological Education in Southeast Asia (FTESEA) and the China Graduate School of Theology (CGST) in Hong Kong.
Rev. Dr. David Esterline, chairman of the Foundation for Theological Education in Southeast Asia, led a four-person delegation to Nanjing Union Theological Seminary on May 9 in the afternoon. Accompanying him were Rev. Shi Li, vice chairman and secretary general of the Jiangsu Provincial CC&TSPM.
During the meeting, the representatives from the FTESEA introduced the key initiatives of the foundation, including faculty training, female leadership development, and the study of contextual theology in Asia. They reiterated the foundation's mission to foster theological education exchange in the Asian region, support theological students and faculty in addressing contextualizing theology issues, and provide "companionship and service" in this process.
Subsequently, the representatives inquired about the doctoral programs offered by the seminary, particularly the Doctor of Ministry program. Rev. Chen Yilu, the executive deputy president of NJUTS, introduced the program's duration, learning objectives, teaching methodologies, and the research interests and directions of some of the Doctor of Ministry students.
Rev. Bernard Wong, president of the China Graduate School of Theology, together with four other CGST delegates, embarked on a visit to NJUTS on the morning of May 11.
Pastor Chen introduced the development history of the seminary, highlighting the recent progress in curriculum development, faculty growth, academic publishing, and student training. During the meeting, President Wong expressed gratitude for the opportunity afforded to the CGST, Hong Kong, to participate in talent development at NJUTS, and he looked forward to further communication and collaboration with the seminary regarding the Ph.D. program teaching. Subsequently, other delegates also shared their efforts in curriculum design philosophy transformation, the establishment of the Doctor of Ministry program, and the creation of an academic support community.
Both parties committed joint efforts to further academic exchanges between the two institutions, a greater scope of academic cooperation, and the exploration of an adaptable Christian theological education in this new era.
After the meeting, the guests visited the exhibition on NJUTS's 70-year history.
After visiting CCC&TSPM on May 15, Mr. Levi Park, international director of the Luis Palau Association, paid a visit to NJUTS on May 16, accompanied by Dr. Wang Xiuyu, associate professor and interpreter of the Luis Palau Association.

会谈中,东南亚神学教育基金会代表介绍了基金会重点事工的开展情况,包括师资培训、女性领袖培养以及亚洲处境化神学的研究。重申了基金会事工的宗旨,即促进亚洲地区的神学教育交流,支持亚洲地区神学院师生思考神学处境化的问题,并在其中发挥“陪伴与服务”的作用。
随后,基金会代表询问了学院博士生培养、尤其是教牧学博士专业的相关情况。学院常务副院长陈逸鲁牧师介绍了学院教牧学博士课程的学制、教学目标、学习方式以及学院部分教牧学博士生的研究兴趣与方向。
5月11日上午,香港中国神学研究院院长黄国维牧师等一行5人访问金陵协和神学院。
陈牧师向访问者介绍了学院的发展历程,学院近年来在课程建设、师资发展、学术出版以及学生培养等方面的事工情况。会谈中,黄国维院长为香港中国神学研究院能参与金陵协和神学院的人才培养而感恩,并期盼在博士课程教学上与学院进一步开展交流与合作。随后,中神代表团其他成员也分享了课程设计理念转变、教牧学博士课程建设以及学术互助群体创建等方面的工作。
双方表示未来将进一步促进两校师生间的学术交流,拓宽学术合作领域,共同探索符合新时代要求的基督教神学教育。
会谈结束后,客人们参观了学院七十周年校史展。
