A total of 12 pastoral staff members participated in a selection meeting for pastor ordination in south China’s Guangdong Province, which consisted of a written test and an interview.
The tests were given on February 24 by Guangzhou CC&TSPM, including basic knowledge of theology, church history, religious laws and rules, pastoral practice, pastors' duties, the practical operation of church administration, management of believers' crises, and the general understanding of current events. The pastoral search committee gave scores based on the comprehensive ability of the candidates. The top seven can enter the next round of public speeches. In the stage of public speeches, the top five will be selected through democratic voting by all the pastoral staff of the Guangzhou Christian Church and become the 2023 candidates for pastor ordination, said the municipal CC&TSPM.
Guangzhou CC&TSPM has changed the mechanism of pastor ordination to public exams and democratic selection since 2020, which can stimulate the self-growth of the pastoral staff and optimize the pastoral team structure. After that, two elections have been held and a total of eight new pastors were ordained.

据广州市基督教两会，2023年2月24日，评选会依次进行笔试和面试。内容涵盖神学基础知识、教会历史、宗教法律法规、教牧实践，圣职责任与担当、教务管理实操、信徒危机管理、时政常识等方面。全面考评参选教牧同工的综合能力，由评委团评分，通过复核审议选出成绩前7名进入下一轮竞选演讲。下阶段，将进行公开演讲，由广州基督教会全体教牧同工民主投票选出前5名，根据得票数最终确定2023年度按立牧师候选人。
据悉，自2020年起市两会创新按立牧师选拔机制，通过公开考试及民主选评模式选贤任能，有效激发教牧同工自我成长，优化教牧团队结构。2020年至今已举行2次按立牧师竞选，共按立了8位新牧师。
