In the past few days, a video of "The Glory of the Cross" (literal translation) written and composed by a pastor in China’s southeastern coastal Fujian Province has spread in the local Christian community. People praised it, saying that it felt like a Xinjiang folk song and sounded good.
Born in 1973, Pastor Lin Youyi is a native of Baxianzhuo Village in Nansheng Town, Pinghe County, Zhangzhou City, where missionaries preached the Gospel 160 years ago. In this gospel village, his predecessors were all Christians. His aunt gave him a copy of the Bible, which he loved so much that he gradually got closer to the Lord. He often went to Nansheng Church to worship and serve. Signing up for the church choir, he later became a choir teacher of more than 60 people. Soon, he was recommended to study in a Bible class in Quanzhou and became the monitor of the class. Later, Lin decided to serve the Lord full-time. After serving in his hometown for a period of time, he was appointed as a pastor in Xicen Church, Jinjing Town, Jinjiang City in May 2006, being ordained an elder in June 2014.
Once, a staff worker told him about the grievances of serving with tears. After praying, Lin said, "The Lord is the song of your life. Frustrations and grievances are like musical notes, high and low. Such a melody is beautiful."
After the exhortation, he had mixed feelings and wrote two hymns, "The Lord is the Song of My Life", and "I Will See the Way of Life". "I'm grateful! The staff member is comforted, and I’m also strengthened in my service,” he said.
Since 2018, Pastor Lin has been working hard year after year to write lyrics in his spare time after pastoral ministry, praising God's wonderful creation and proclaiming the name of the Lord.
In the past few years, he has created 37 songs with the national style of Chinese music works, which are deeply loved by the audience. His representative works include "The Lord is the Song of My Life", "The Work of Salvation", "The Passion of Noble Service", "The Glory of the Cross Fills the World", and "Anoint Your Beauty". The last one won the silver prize in the popularity award and the third prize in the individual singing group in the 2022 Glory Blossoms Original Music Works Competition.

这几天，一首由传道人林友义作词作曲的《十字架的荣光满天地》的视频在朋友圈传开，朋友们都纷纷点赞，称其“有点新疆歌的感觉，好听”。
林友义是福建省平和县南胜镇八仙桌村人，出生于1973年，160年前，传教士就在这个小村传福音，后成为远近闻名的福音村。他的前辈都是基督徒，姨姨送他一本《圣经》他爱不释手，慢慢与主亲近，经常到南胜礼拜堂礼拜、事奉，堂里陈紫凰大姐引导他，他报名参加堂会诗班，后又当上60多人的诗班老师。不久，被推荐到泉州圣经班学习，也当上圣经班班长。后来林友义决意全职侍奉主，在家乡侍奉一段时间后，2006年5月受聘晋江市金井镇西岑教会任传道，2014年6月被按立为长老。
有一次，一位同工向他述说侍奉的委屈时，眼泪一直流。他祷告后跟同工说：“主是你生命的歌，挫折委屈如音符，有高有低，这样的旋律才美。”
劝勉后他心中感触很多，提笔写了两首诗歌《主是我生命的歌》《我必看见生命路》。“感恩！同工不但得安慰，我也得造就，侍奉更有力量。
从2018年开始，林友义传道利用传道工作之余，空闲时间来进行歌词创作，年如一日地耕耘着。通过诗歌赞美神奇妙的创造，传扬主的名。
