A centennial church in Jiangsu on the southeast coast of China has formed the Sunday prayer group, enriching the ways of pastoral care.
After preparations such as early recruitment and training, St. John’s Church in Suzhou launched the intercessor prayer ministry for the first time on September 18. Group members are composed of the pastoral staff and backbone believers, according to the Suzhou CC&TSPM.
A believer with a need for prayer can come to designated places to receive one-on-one prayer.
Built in 1881 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, the church was first called East Soochow Methodist Church with 400 seats. In 1915, the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, demolished it to build a new 800-seat Western-style church with the name of “St. John's Church” in memory of the St. John’s Church in St. Louis, Missouri, which had donated money to help build the church.
