A church in Anshan, China’s north-eastern Liaoning Province, held Christmas celebrations in advance to avoid any “unexpected shutdown” triggered by a possible COVID-19 outbreak in the coming weeks.
On December 11, Laohutun Church presented 23 performances in a worship service. While wearing masks, the congregation kept socially distanced in the main hall after having their temperature measured, following the choir to praise the Lord. Pastor Wu Shuai preached a sermon titled “The Savior Jesus”, explaining the significance of Jesus’ birth and the salvation of the cross.
On the second day, the church hosted a communion Sunday service.
Meanwhile, churches in Dalian City reopened on Sunday.
Fengshoulu Church carried out three Sunday services with a maximum attendance of 300.
“I burst out tears with gratitude when entering the church. We can meet again. This is rough!” said an elderly believer.
Four people prayed to accept Jesus Christ as their savior in the two morning services.
