Guangdong Church Plans to Hold Academic Lecture to Celebrate 35th Anniv. of Reopening

9月份，广州基督教芳村堂将迎来复堂35周年的日子。

9月5日的学术专题讲座，讲员为广东省民族宗教研究院副研究员、广东协和神学院副院长吴宁博士，主题为“基督教与近代广州社会”。

芳村堂将精心安排“七个一”的系列活动与方式，以此向上帝献上感恩。

“七个一”为：一次堂委会换届、一场专题学术讲座、一场联合赞美会、一场感恩崇拜、一次执事按立典礼、一本复堂纪念专刊、一份精美礼物。

A Guangdong church will launch a series of activities to mark its 35th anniversary following the continuation of its services in September.

On September 5, Dr. Wu Ning, the deputy researcher of Guangdong Institute of Ethnic and Religious Studies and the deputy president of Guangdong Union Theological Seminary, will give a lecture titled "Christianity and Modern Guangzhou Society".

Besides the lecture, Guangzhou Fangcun Church will hold a joint praise meeting, a thanksgiving worship service, an ordination for deacons, a general election of the church council, as well as presenting an exquisite gift and a special issue for the reopening in 1986. 

The church was built in 1891 by Rev Henry V. Noyes of the American Presbyterian Mission inside the Pui Ying Middle School.
