Having raised more than 2,300 yuan, the disabled fellowship of the Yaodu District Church in Shanxi Province spent four days visiting nearly 20 families who have disabled family members.
In this annual visitation, a female believer named Wang Jiarui, who is enthusiastic about the ministry, had her husband drive for two days in a row without complaint. Elder Zhang Xiaohua and a staff worker who are both physically disabled sent food and money to each family around the city and the country.
Despite their difficulties, the disabled believers are all satisfied as they believe and rely on Jesus. Some are in wheelchairs, some couples are both disabled and some rely on a subsistence allowance. Some need to take care of their disabled elderly mothers, and some need dialysis three times a week because of their physical disabilities.
In addition to reading and praying every day during the COVID-19 period, they are enthusiastic in helping others even if they are very poor. Besides money and materials, some even donated their wheelchairs to help other disabled people around them. And some provided voluntary massage services to the elderly in nursing homes.
After the church resumed services last October, the fellowship immediately requested to resume its activities. But they again suspended the gatherings after receiving a notice from the government about the rise in COVID-19 concerns before New Year's Day.
Arriving at each house, the staff from the fellowship showed their concern by asking their living conditions. They planned to launch a systematic reading of the Bible in cell groups in which they will answer questions, doubts and exchange their experiences in reading the Bible.
Before leaving, they asked them to pray for the pandemic situation in country, for the world, for the church’s revival and pastoral care in the post-pandemic era. Reminding them to build the body and protect themselves from becoming ill, the fellow workers prayed and wished them a peaceful and joyous Spring Festival.
