A training session for reporters from the official website of CCC&TSPM and its flagship magazine, Tianfeng (Heavenly Wind), was held in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, emphasizing the importance of media ministry in sharing the gospel and telling the story of Christianity in China.
According to CCC&TSPM, 60 pastoral staff members, including reporters from all provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) and audio and video authors of the CCC&TSPM's website, attended the session from September 18 to 21.
At the opening ceremony, Rev. Geng Weizhong, vice president of CCC, urged all reporters to conduct their work with clear direction, professionalism, and a sense of mission.
On the second day of the training, Professor Xu Zhenglin, chief expert of the major project under the National Social Science Fund of China and vice president of the China Association of National Advertisers, delivered two lectures combining theory with practice, "Christianity and the Internet" and "How to Be a Good News Editor."
Rev. Hao Zhiqiang, deputy secretary general of TSPM and editor-in-chief of Tianfeng analyzed the nationwide situation of the implementation of the "Measures for the Administration of Internet Religious Information Services." He addressed the existing concerns and challenges and provided suggestions for future improvement.
On September 20, Rev. Xu Xiaohong, chairperson of TSPM, remarked that to systematically advance the sinicization of Christianity, it is critical to preserve valuable traditions while encouraging innovation in pastoral practice and theological thought.
Rev. Geng Weizhong concluded that introducing the "Measures for the Administration of Internet Religious Information Services" in the current Internet era has established a basic institutional guarantee for Christian communities in China to engage in media work. He expressed hope that the trainees will improve the overall professional standards of the Chinese church in the digital era and convey the story of churches in China.
