Recently, a 100-year-old church in Guangzhou, Guangdong issued a notice that a series of activities will be held on June 15-16 to complete its building renovation.
The Church of Our Savior will carry out a baroque concert, a dedication ceremony, thanksgiving service , a lecture on Christian history and culture, and a Christian painting, calligraphy, and photography art exhibition, as well as an opening ceremony of the history and culture studio.
The Church of Our Savior was originally built in 1919 with the characteristics of old Anglican churches. After wind and rain for a hundred years, the church with the brick and wood structure had some potential safety hazards, such as erosion from termites, humidity, and decay. The restoration was launched on September 18, 2023, after preliminary preparatory work since 2020. It includes many measures, such as a fresh air renovation system in the basement, upgrading the air-conditioning in the sanctuary and indoor and outdoor lighting, restoring the small auditorium, the altar, removing paint from exterior walls, restoring exterior columns, renovating the rear fence, and construction and supporting facilities of historical and cultural room.
