Due to the effects of Typhoon "Doksuri," the regions of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei have continuously experienced flooding and geological disasters since July 29.
As this has resulted in significant casualties in Beijing and Hebei, CCC&TSPM issued letters of intercession, according to the Social Service Department of CCC&TSPM.
As of 6 a.m. on August 1, the current round of heavy rainfall in Beijing caused the deaths of 11 people, including two individuals who died in the line of duty during disaster relief efforts. Additionally, 27 people are missing, with four of them missing during rescue operations. One firefighter from the Haidian branch of the Beijing Fire Rescue Brigade lost his life during the rescue operation, and one township official from the Mentougou district died while on patrol. Four members of the Blue Sky Rescue Team went missing after conducting disaster relief operations in the Fangshan district. So far, this disaster has affected 44,673 people in 13 districts of Beijing, and a total of 127,000 people have been relocated to safer areas.
Currently, most areas of Beijing are still under a red flood warning, with continuous rainfall leading to increased secondary risks such as floods, flash floods, and geological disasters. Low-lying urban areas are also prone to water accumulation. It is crucial to closely monitor alert messages and the latest weather forecasts and avoid traveling near water bodies and flash flood channels.
In light of this situation, CCC&TSPM called on churches and believers across the country to pay attention to this disaster and pray for the affected people, frontline rescue personnel, and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction efforts.
