A non-governmental charity organization in Jiangsu participated in a training course held by Quality End of Life Care for All (QELCA).
Recently, Zhenjiang Reed's Home fellow workers participated in the QELCA Training Course, which was jointly organized by the Beijing Living Will Promotion Association and UK St. Christopher's Care, according to Reed's Home. Dr. Yue Guang and Dr. Yan Liu, chief physicians of the Palliative Care Department of Zhenjiang Third People’s Hospital, were invited as trainers.
A total of eight trainees participated in this event, including nursing professors, pain management doctors, medical social workers, social workers for the elderly, palliative care nurses, and palliative care graduates. According to the requirements of QELCA, they need to complete five days of intensive theoretical study and six months of clinical practice.
In this course, teachers introduced the general situation and difficulties of palliative care, as well as the development of palliative care policies, laws, and regulations in China. Participants shared their understanding and feelings about death and palliative care with personal reflective discussions on "what do I need if I’m dying".
QELCA was initiated in 2008 by St. Christopher's Care in London, UK, the birthplace of palliative care, with the aim of providing patients with high-quality care at the end of life, as well as helping their family members face the situation.

江苏一民间慈善组织参加全民生命末期品质照护培训课程。
据镇江芦苇之家。近日,由北京生前预嘱推广协会联合英国圣克里斯托弗护理院共同举办,镇江市第三人民医院缓和医疗(安宁疗护)科岳广主任、刘琰主任担任培训师的“全民生命末期品质照护培训课程(简称:QELCA©)”在江苏镇江开班。镇江芦苇之家社工参加此次培训活动。
在参加此次培训的学员共有8位,其中包括大学护理专业教授、疼痛科医生、医务社工、助老社工、安宁疗护专科护士和安宁疗护方向护理研究生等。根据QELCA©规范要求,学员需要进行5天的集中理论学习和6个月的临床行动学习。
培训课上,培训师介绍了目前安宁疗护的大致情况、存在困难,以及我国安宁疗护政策、法律法规等演变发展历程。学员们分享交流了对死亡及安宁疗护的理解、认知和临床上的感受,并进行了“如果我快死了,我会需要什么”的个人反思讨论。
“全民生命末期品质照护(QELCA©)”由缓和医疗发源地——英国伦敦圣克里斯托弗护理院于2008年首创,其目的是帮助处于生命末期的患者及其家属得到高品质的照护。
