Once used as the site of the former headquarters of the Chinese Red Army, a building next to a church in Fujian Province was reclaimed as a place for church administrative work and fellowship activities.
This is the former site of Yangzheng Girls’ School built by a Zhangpu church more than 120 years ago. Commonly known as “Red Mansion”, it was once the military office for the Red Army that liberated Zhangpu on April 24, 1932, and established the Zhangpu County Revolutionary Committee. They engaged in fighting local tyrants and dividing the land in the urban and rural areas, establishing the Soviet power and Soviet districts in Nanjing County, Heping County, and Zhangpu Country, as well as the Red Army independent battalion in the Zhangpu Soviet area.
Listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Zhangpu County by the Zhangpu County People's Government in April 1984, it was designated as the Fujian Provincial Party History Education Base by the Party History Research Office of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee in June 2011. It was announced by the Fujian Provincial People's Government among the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relics protection units on January 28, 2013, becoming a revolutionary traditional education base.
The Zhangpu County Government returned the building property in January 2020 to Puyi Church in Zhangpu County which decorated the red mansion for more than half a year and built a two-story dormitory building. As well as being used for the administrative work of Zhangpu County Christian Council and Puyi Church, the building is also used for the church’s meetings, and activities of Morning Light Fellowship, Nissi Fellowship, and Youth Fellowship, easing the shortage of church space.
