One church in Shanghai participated in the fight against COVID-19 due to a surge of infection cases.
Since March 9, three churches in Hongkou District have suspended all onsite gatherings, implementing a series of measures such as disinfection of places and arranging people to keep church building secure, the district CC&TSPM said.
On its official WeChat account, besides reminding its members to follow personal protection measures, Hongkou Church pushes messages regarding sermons, testimonies of faith, and articles on spirituality, encouraging believers to pray for Shanghai in Covid lockdown.
Staff members, volunteers, and believers at the church put themselves forward as front-line workers, helping with crowd control in the COVID-19 locations, and materials delivery and distributions.
Caring about living conditions of the seminary students amid the epidemic, without receiving offerings due to the lockdown, the church still donated 20,000 yuan to East China Theological Seminary on April 10.
To improve the disease prevention skills, church staff members attended online training courses on disinfection and cleaning on March 30 and April 11.
On April 13, China Mainland detected 3,020 confirmed COVID-19 cases (2,573 in Shanghai) and 26,391 asympotamic carriers (25,146 in Shanghai), according to the National Health Commission of the PRC on Thursday.
