China's TSPM church will celebrate the incoming World Day of Prayer which falls on Friday with its self-made material instead of following the officially designated program.
On February 25, CCC&TSPM announced the theme for World Day of Prayer (WDP) 2022 will be "Contribute With Willingness" according to Exodus 35:20-35, detailing the procedures and content of the joint worship service on the official website. The state-approved umbrella organization for Protestant churches said, "In view of the need to normalize the prevention and control of COVID-19, each church can follow and utilize the procedures according to their various situations."
"In order to better fit the situation of the Chinese church", besides designing a poster, the Women and Youth Ministry Committee of CCC&TSPM compiled the procedures and content of the service instead of following the World Day of Prayer Committee
The service includes testimonies of Chinese Christian women, the study of Exodus 35:20-35, and intercession. The topics of prayer are the complete victory of mankind over the pandemic; complete reunification of China; helping the people to achieve common prosperity; China’s successful hosting of the 2022 Winter Olympics and the Paralympics.
Written by the World Day of Prayer Committee of England, Wales & Northern Ireland, the official theme of WDP 2022 will be "I Know the Plans I Have for You" based on Jeremiah 29:1-14.
The program for WDP 2023 written by Taiwan will feature the theme, "I Have Heard About Your Faith" with Ephesians 1:15-19.
The "Women's World Day of Prayer" initiative first started from a prayer service jointly organized by Christian women from Canada and the USA with the aim to care for women and children. Founded in 1964, the World Day of Prayer International Committee sets the first Friday of March as the World Day of Prayer.
