A Jiangsu church hosted a peace & prayer worship service to commemorate the 84 anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre.
On December 11, Nanjing Mochou Road Church held a memorial service to mourn the victims of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre to mark the National Memorial Day in advance which fell on December 13.
Since December 13, 1937, Nanjing, one of China's four hottest "furnaces", suffered from a disaster lasting for more than a month. At that time, the invading Japanese army massacred unarmed civilians and killed more than 300,000 people.
Pastor Jing Lizhi, preached a sermon with the title "You Should Bear Fruit", citing Luke 3:7-18. He said that Christians should not just believe what they hear or see and they should build confidence in their personal relationship with God. He suggested that believers not be disconnected from reality but rather change themselves, even minor things, to live more like the Lord. In addition, the pastor reminded churchgoers that to gain Christ they should believe in the gospel rather than just repent, as repentance was a preparatory work leading them to Jesus.
After the sermon, Senior Pastor Li Lancheng hosted a peace prayer ceremony to reflect back on the history and cherish the hard-won peace. They prayed for individuals, churches, countries, and the world, as well as for the biggest problems in the world such as national pandemic prevention, global peace, poverty, hunger, and climate change.
Then, Rev. Li led a communion service, consecrating the bread and wine, which were distributed to the congregation by pastors and members of the choir.
