Churches in Lvshunkou District, Liaoning, resumed their in-person gatherings last Sunday after a two-week suspension, as there are no new local cases of COVID-19.
Since May 15, churches and gathering sites in Lvshunkou District of Dalian City had suspended all on-site gatherings, due to a rebound of the pandemic.
A senior pastor in this district said this resumption was not easy to come by. Although the suspension time was shorter than the previous few times, various congregations had constantly prayed and called upon God in anxious expectation, and churches had prepared pandemic prevention materials and manpower for the resumption.
Arriving at the church in advance on May 30, the pastoral staff in charge of pandemic prevention made preparations for the service, including disinfection, sterilization, registration and code scanning. For the convenience of believers living too far away to be able to gather, churches provided buses to pick them up. Following COVID-19 protocols, churchgoers entered the sanctuary, seated at intervals per the required social distancing.
"Churches were filled with people as expected, believers were willing to offer, and all was well," the pastor added.
