On March 28, 2021, Christian actor Dick Liu, who won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Hong Kong Film Awards, died of illness at the age of 66 at the Prince of Wales Hospital.
His agent company wrote on a blog, "Now I reluctantly inform everyone that our dear Dick Liu (Uncle Chi) returned to our Heavenly Father's arms accompanied by his family at 8:32 pm on March 28, 2021, at the Prince of Wales Hospital. The family appreciates the medical staff for their good care over the past few months and the care and blessings of the general public and the media. Although the family is reluctant to give up, they still hope to one day meet Dick Liu again in heaven. We understand that the general public cares so much about Mr. Liu, but implore you to give his family some space to deal with the funeral. We will inform you about the funeral arrangements later. Once again, I sincerely thank everyone for their care and love for Uncle Chi and his family.”
It was reported that the Hong Kong actor was found to have stomach cancer in December last year. On the 22nd of this month, he admitted that he was sick in the form of text messages.
He posted, "The old machine is broken and needs to be repaired. I know that everyone cares, but too many greetings will also be a burden, even out of good intentions. I hope you can understand."
Liu was in the film and television industry for more than 40 years and became a student of the 8th Wireless Artist Training Class in 1979. In 1980, Liu made his debut through the TV series "Shanghai Beach". His representative works include "Infernal Affairs", "Beast Stalker", "The Stool Pigeon”, "The Bullet Vanishes", "The Borderline" and so on. He won the Golden Awards twice for Best Supporting Actor.
His family are all Christians. He started attending church meetings in 1987, converted to Christianity in 1996, and finally got baptized in 2003. He, Barbara Chan and her husband once gave a testimony titled "You can bear the same yoke at last".

据悉廖启智于去年12月被发现患有胃癌。本月22日，廖启智曾以短信的形式承认自己患病。他在短信中说，“年纪大机器坏，要修理一下。知道大家关心，但太多的问候，虽然是好意，也会是种负担，希望你们能体谅。”
廖启智入行40余年，于1979年成为第8届无线艺员训练班学员。1980年，廖启智通过参演电视剧《上海滩》出道，代表作有《无间道》《证人》《线人》《消失的子弹》《警戒线》等，曾两夺金像奖最佳男配角。
廖启智一家皆是基督徒，廖启智是1987年开始上教会，1996年决志，03年受洗。廖启智与陈敏儿夫妇曾做过题为《终可同负一轭》的主内见证。
