On December 11, the Shanghai Christian Council held an ordination ceremony for seven pastors and 12 elders in Jiayin Church, in Pujin Street, Minhang District. Nearly 500 staff workers and believers attended.
Rev. Xu Yulan, chairman of the Shanghai TSPM, gave a sermon entitled, "Being a Good Deacon of Christ".
During the ceremony, Rev. Geng Weizhong, president of the Shanghai CC, laid hands on the 19 fellow workers after they shared their understanding of the office to which they have been called. Later, they were presented clerical stoles and Bibles.
After the ordination ceremony, a seminar was held to welcome the newly ordained pastors and elders.
Rev. Xu said that God still cared for the Shanghai churches in the special period of COVID-19. The number of pastoral co-workers ordained this time broke last year’s record. She led them to recall the three callings from the Lord. The first was obeying God’s calling to devote themselves to studying theology; the second was starting to shepherd the flock after the graduation; the third was being ordained to be the overseers of all the flock and a deacon of Christ.
Rev. Geng said that thanks to God’s grace and blessing, the Shanghai CC was able to carry out the ordination during this difficult time. He exhorted the newly ordained colleagues to be good servants in the new era and develop their personal qualities by studying theology hard and combining their beliefs with traditional Chinese culture.

2020年12月11日下午1时半，上海市基督教教务委员会假闵行区浦锦佳音堂隆重举行圣职按立典礼。来自上海教会的同工同道、弟兄姐妹近500人，共同见证了这一圣事。
市基督教三自爱国运动委员会主席徐玉兰牧师以《做基督的好执事》为题证道，上海市基督教教牧联合诗班献唱。
典礼中，耿卫忠牧师特别进行了誓约询问。之后为19位同工进行了按手礼，并为7位新按立的牧师、12位新按立的长老佩戴圣带、赠送圣经。
圣职按立典礼结束后，举行了欢迎新按立圣职同工座谈会。
徐玉兰牧师感言到，在新冠疫情特殊时期，上帝仍然眷顾上海基督教会。此次按立同工的人数再次刷新去年的记录，共有19位同工分别被按立为牧师、长老的圣职。徐牧师更是带领新按立的同工共同回忆为主奉献生命道路上的三次受托，第一次受托，顺服上帝的呼召、全身心投入神学装备中；第二次受托，披戴十架，进入禾场，牧养羊群；第三次受托，按立圣职，作全群的监督，做好基督的执事。
耿卫忠牧师总结到，在今年疫情防控如此严峻的时期，市基督教两会凭着信心完成了按立的圣工，我们要共同感恩上帝的恩待与赐福；耿牧师希望新按立的同工们作为新时代上海教牧人员，在神学上多学习多思考，在中国传统文化上多吸收多浸润，要有方向感，要有使命感，要不断加强自身综合素质的培养，真正成为新时代的好仆人。
