The Christ Church in Wangying Town, Yangxin County, Hubei Province, held a thanksgiving service for its 20th anniversary and the completion of a building complex.
Brother Xu Liangming, deputy chairman of Yangxin County CC&TSPM and director of the church council, reviewed the church’s 20-year history on December 10.
Xu said that the church had resisted a heresy (the Cry to be Reborn Sect, designated as a cult by the government), protecting the congregation. Recognizing the church’s history of a social caring ministry, he put forward the church’s goals and how they would be implemented. The church didn’t have full-time pastors currently, the leaders of the church decided to hire full-time pastors at a salary not lower than the local village cadre to fulfill the pastors’ needs, he added.
After that, the thanksgiving service began. Zhou Xing, a member of the standing committee and associate general secretary of the county Christian Council gave a sermon entitled, "Let Others be Grateful to You" based on Philippians 1:3-6. He exhorted believers to share the gospel with members at work and in the family and pursue the revival of the church.
Finally, the praise teams from other churches in the county sang and danced together.
All the members of the standing committee of the County CC&TSPM, the leaders and praise team members of other churches participated in the service. It was also attended by the congregation of the church, the chief pastor, colleagues and believers from surrounding counties and cities, and the cadres and masses of the surrounding villages.
