On September 19, 20 pastors from Guangdong churches were ordained.

The ordination ceremony, arranged by the Guangdong CC & TSPM and the Guangzhou CC & TSPM, was held at Dongshan Church in Guangzhou City. Nearly 300 pastoral staff and representatives of believers in the Guangdong province participated.

Three pastors from Guangzhou churches were ordained, namely Chi Jianqing, Xiao Ping An, and He Mingxia.

The ceremony was presided over by Pastor Fan Hongen, chairman of the Guangdong TSPM. Seven pastors ordained 20 pastors in turn by laying their hands on them, presenting Bibles and giving instructions and encouragement.

According to reports, this is the first time that a collective ordination ceremony for the pastors in the province was held since the churches resumed their worship services in 1979.

This year they followed new procedures for selecting pastors to be ordained. Candidates need to pass many assessments including closed-book written examinations, interview and evaluation, election speeches, and democratic selection.
