Rev. Rui Tingting was appointed associate senior pastor of Apostle's Church in Suzhou, in China's coastal Jiangsu province.
She accepted her appointment while standing behind a podium adorned with two red Chinese flags, according to the Suzhou Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CC&TSPM).
Rev. Rui' appointment makes her the most hopeful successor of the senior pastor of the most historic church in Suzhou.
The Apostle's Church, believed to be the very first Protestant Church in Suzhou, was established in 1879 by American Presbyterian missionaries. It was also the first church to be reopened in Jiangsu Province after the Cultural Revolution.
Proposed by top leaders of Suzhou CC&TSPM, two national flags were put in front of Rev. Rui to indicate her responsibility to society. She accepted her appointment with her hand on the Bible, promising to "endorse the leadership of the Communist Party of China, practice core socialist values and comply with 'three-self' principles" as well as fulfill her pastoral duties to the church.
Rev. He Jiemiao, President & Chairman of Suzhou CC&TSPM, addressed the participants. He stated that Christian organizations promote career development and growth for young workers in Suzhou by providing ministry and work opportunities. He also serves as the chairman of the Jiangsu CC, elected at the 10th Jiangsu Christianity Conference in May 2019.
On October 1, 2018, Suzhou CC&TSPM launched the first-ever raising ceremony of the national flag in Shishan Church, located at the west of Suzhou. Started in October 2018, a new campaign was taken to bring the introduction of national flag, religious regulations, core socialist values, and traditional Chinese culture into churches in China.

仪式由市两会办公室主任于华伟牧师主持，使徒堂主任牧师黄馥萍祷告，市两会副主席兼秘书长顾云涛牧师宣读任命书，芮婷婷牧师手按圣经庄严宣誓——“我芮婷婷志愿担任使徒堂副主任牧师职务，坚决拥护中国共产党领导，努力践行社会主义核心价值观，始终坚持‘三自’原则，自觉服从组织决定，秉承持守使徒统绪，竭力遵行圣经教导，为办好苏州教会尽心尽职。”
苏州市两会主席/会长何介苗牧师作劝勉讲话。何牧师强调，苏州市基督教两会历来重视人才培养，为年轻同工提供侍奉平台和任职空间。举行任职宣誓仪式，一方面增加任职仪式感，另一方面增加受职责任感。手按着圣经宣誓，旨在提醒受职同工谨遵誓言，努力前行，为苏州教会的建设添砖加瓦。摆放国旗，旨在受职同工清楚有义务担当社会责任。
苏州市两会直属场所负责人、使徒堂全体专职同工及部分堂委出席本次任职仪式。市民宗局二处副处长马连弟列席。
