On April 4, 2020, a Christian nursing home in Qitaihe, located in China's northeastern Heilongjiang province, joined in the national mourning for martyrs and other people who died in the fight against the Covid-19 outbreak.
The national flag flew at half-mast inside the Red Cross Nursing Home to pay homage to those who lost their lives.
According to Chinese tradition, last Saturday was Qingming or Tomb Sweeping Day, a time when Chinese people remember their deceased ancestors, family members, and friends. However, this time the remembrance included three minutes of national mourning, which began at 10 am.
With a campus covering an area of 49 acres and a facility with 243 beds, the Red Cross Nursing Home in Qitaihe was founded in 200. Christian comprise 80% of the total number of residents. Led by Elder Tian Huaiyan, the nursing home serves seniors, orphans, and disabled people by providing medical and elderly care.
