On December 29, 2019, Shenzhen Xiangmihu Church of Guangdong province convened a year-end symposium for the mentors and small group leaders.

According to the church, Rev. Qiu Quan, the senior pastor, said that 44 more small groups had been founded and about 60 members had become group leaders after four training programs in the past year. In April of 2018, the church started the shift to pastoring its congregation by groups, according to the church.

Meanwhile, there was room for improvement in the small group ministry given certain weakspots such as a low consciousness of evangelism, insufficient organizational management, unclear philosophy and goal orientation, and problems with the weekday gatherings.
